Gardening Class at St Paul’s was a BLAST !!!!

St Pauls Gardens 07

The gardening class at St Paul’s was today (03/12/16) and it was a blast. I had a lot of fun, met a bunch of really great people who wanted to learn how to learn to garden as I do. They asked a lot (and good) questions and it was just a pleasure to teach the class. Thank you to all the people who attended the class and St Paul’s Church for letting us have the class in the basement. I hope I’ll get the chance to do that again.

If you are in Etowah tomorrow morning please feel free to come to the 11:00 morning service.  We hope to see you there.

June 22, 2015 Stephanie Aldrich from WKOP is HERE !!!!

Stephanie Aldrich from Knoxville PBS Station WKOP was here today to do an interview with me about the gardens and what makes them grow.  I was VERY nervous but Stephanie and her crew were very nice, and after a few minutes the nervousness went away. Stephanie’s Editor has his job cut out for him. I’m still not good at doing interviews, and I know the Editor will have to piece mine together to ( hopefully ) make me sound coherent. You get caught up in the moment and forget things you wanted to say. They were here for over 3 hours and it was 95+ degrees. To keep everybody hydrated, my Wife was serving bottled water and Tasty Tomato Treats. The show is called Tennessee Life and it should air on July 19th at 5:00pm ( here in East Tenn ).  Even though I was nervous, it was a LOT of fun !!!

May 21, 2015 Installed DOUBLE Cages on Tomato Plants

Today with help from some friends, we installed DOUBLE cages on our 4 Better Boy Tomato Plants in Garden No.1. Believe it or not, those tomato plants should be at least at the top of those cages by the first week of August. We are hoping this will help protect the plants from the August wind and thunderstorms, that have torn them apart and cut their season short the last 2 years in a row.

Did you notice that Garden No.1 now has the SAME nice HOOP FRAME for Spring and Fall gardening just like Garden No.2. This is a much nicer looking, better, AND more efficient frame to be able to cover the garden with some 6 mill plastic in cold or stormy weather.

May 5, 2015 Who doesn’t like SPINACH !!!!!

If you haven’t been able to tell, I’m WAY behind on posting my Blogs. This is the last photo of my Spring Spinach on 05-05-2015. I took some about 2 weeks later 0n May 18th, the day we pulled the Spinach and Lettuce, but something happened to the memory card and all the photos form over a week were lost.

You wouldn’t believe me if I told you, how many people were fed and how many meals this small section of the garden produced. For 2 days we had friends, neighbors, and people from our Church, taking home multiple bag fulls of Lettuce and Spinach.

One of the things I learned as a kid was NOT to waste good food. So if you end up with more than you can eat and preserve, invite your friends, neighbors, and anybody else you can think of over to take what they want. It helps them, it helps you, and its a lot of FUN !!!

May 5, 2015 Lettuce and Spinach doing GREAT !!

Everyone who’s ever eaten my Lettuce and Spinach will tell you it is the best they’ve ever eaten. Store bought Lettuce and Spinach is tiny and tasteless compared to Lettuce and Spinach grown with  a MultiPlant WaterStick® and fertilized with Super42Vitalizer® and any one of the various BUG JUICE® formulas.
